Company Info
The Village Book is a community based yellow page directory for the Piedmont, Montclair and Rockridge areas of Oakland. Started in 2004 by Bay Area Publishing, 48,000 copies of the Village Book are distributed in the October/November timeframe to all the residents and businesses in these areas.
The goal of the Village Book is to encourage local residents to "Shop Locally." We would like to share the following quote:
THE GOOD NEWS: ** "A dollar spent at a locally owned store is usually spent 6 to 15 times before it leaves the community. From $1 you create $5 to $14 in value within the community."
THE BAD NEWS: "Spend $1 at a national chain store and 80% of it leaves town immediately."
The Village Book becomes a great way for local residents to identify and use local businesses when they have the opportunity.
The Village Book features traditional white and yellow page listings as well as a comprehensive city map, restaurant guide, community calendar and large print. The Village Book becomes a valuable resource for local residents as well as a fantastic and cost effective way for local businesses to advertise to their customer base. Most local businesses draw from the residents within a 2 to 5 mile radius of their location and our book represents an excellent way to reach those consumers.
The Village Book will soon have a sister publication called the San Leandro Community Guide. The San Leandro Community Guide will continue our idea of publishing community based directories for local area residents.
We look forward to future publications of the Village Book and to our first publication in San Leandro. If you would like any additional information on our book or company you may either email us at info@villagebook.com or call us at (510) 886-1317.
